FCT EVALUATION

CES evaluated as Excellent

The Foundation for Science and Technology has published the provisional results of the evaluation of all national Research Units, following an assessment by an international panel of experts. In this exercise, the Center for Social Studies (CES) was once again rated as “Excellent”.

This rating reflects the quality of the work carried out by the CES team in the three main areas that have been priorities for the Center: research, advanced training and dialogue with society. The panel recognized CES's excellent contributions in its research areas, namely in gender and citizenship studies, racism and anti-racism, heritage and cultural studies, climate change, risks and nature-based solutions, or the territorial dynamics of the cultural and creative industries. The doctoral programs in which CES participates in partnership with different faculties of the University of Coimbra were also noted for their distinctive contribution. The success in attracting external funding, particularly international funding, and in engaging with society, public policies, social movements and cultural actors was also highlighted.

The results achieved and now recognized are fruit of the work of a research team with high quality and internationalization, as highlighted by the panel, supported by an excellent technical team, whose dedication we would like to thank.

CES remains committed to its research program in the social sciences, arts and humanities, through an inter- and transdisciplinary approach, and focused on contributing original and relevant critical knowledge to the major challenges of contemporaneity.
