Natália Bueno


Biography

Natália Bueno is a researcher at the Center for Social Studies (CES), University of Coimbra. She is currently working on the project "REINTEGRA - Reviewing the impact of amnesty in the reintegration of ex-combatants: A bottom-up view of the case of Mozambique", funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (2023-2029), and the project "Visibilizing marginalized Early Career Researchers in Peace, Conflict and Security Studies", funded by the British Academy. Previously, she worked as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Economics, University of Coimbra and at Lusíada University (Porto). Natália was also a postdoctoral researcher in "CROME" - Crossed Memories, Politics of Silence: The Colonial-Liberation Wars in Postcolonial Times - at CES and as a country expert in the Global Leadership Project, University of Texas at Austin. Natália holds a Ph.D. in International Politics and Conflict Resolution from the University of Coimbra (CES/FEUC), an M.A. in Comparative Politics from the London School of Economics (LSE), and a B.A. in International Relations from the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP). She is also a former visiting fellow at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, Notre Dame University, the German Institute of Global and Areas Studies (GIGA), and the Center for African Studies, Eduardo Mondlane University. She is currently co-editing the special issue "Peace and Democracy: Views from the Global South", Frontiers in Political Science. Natália's research has been published in top peer-reviewed journals such as Conflict, Security & Development, Memory Studies, African Studies Review, among others. In addition to these peer-reviewed articles, she has also contributed to renowned popular media such as the blog Africa is a Country, Justice in Conflict and the newspaper Expresso.
