On 2 December 2025, the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra (FEUC) announced the winners of the FEUC Science and FEUC Teaching Awards, which recognise the merit of teachers whose work stands out in scientific research and pedagogical innovation.

As part of the FEUC Science Award 2025, the jury unanimously awarded an Honourable Mention to António Carvalho, professor at FEUC and researcher at CES, recognising the excellence of his scientific contribution to the study of the social dimensions of climate change.

The distinction highlights, in particular, the publication of the book «Antropoceno(s): Crise climática, ontologia e o social», as well as the researcher's consistent presence in internationally renowned scientific journals, underscoring the relevance and impact of his research for the critical understanding of contemporary socio-environmental transformations.

It is also important to note that, at the FEUC 2025 Academic Awards, Cláudia Nogueira, a CES researcher, received an honourable mention in the Engenheiro António de Almeida Foundation Award for her doctoral thesis in Sociology, “Para lá dos Silenciamentos. Sofrimento mental, integralidade e (im)possibilidades de uma ecologia de cuidados” [Beyond Silencing. Mental suffering, integrality and (im)possibilities of an ecology of care]. This award is intended to reward the best doctoral thesis among all scientific areas of the faculty's doctoral programmes.
